Jake

COACH

Jake is a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. He grew up playing every sport and to this day he still works out every day and plays in sports leagues twice a week. There is not a sport or activity that he is afraid to try! He has always led his family and friends with exercise and helped train them, especially during the covid shutdown. Jake was faced with some big health setbacks in his life, and it was during this time that Jake’s love for helping others live their best life inspired him to become a personal trainer. He loves helping people change their lives through improving their physical ability and health through.
Jake currently works as a Financial Business Analyst during the day and pursues his passion as a certified personal trainer at night. He knew Altus was the best place for him to have a big impact because of Altus’s approach.

John Rossmiller

Founder

John was a coach and leader in various capacities for 16 years before he founded Altus. He has coached 1000’s of people of every age & ability towards shaping their own lives through health & fitness. He has also trained over 50 aspiring coaches and leaders.
John was medically retired from the Army in 2014 and went back to school for business. He started Altus to provide people with the kind of support, guidance, leadership and team environment that he had as a college athlete and special operations soldier. John knew that to have the greatest impact on people’s lives he needed a team of coaches capable of providing the level of leadership, expertise and accountability that people need to live the Altus philosophy to achieve their own personal success in life.
John served as an Army Ranger and intelligence operative for seven years before being medically retired. While serving he deployed four times to Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as serving for a year as NCOIC and Human Performance Optimization Coach for the Ranger Athlete Warrior program.
John went through multiple transformations in his own life, from gaining 95lbs during his football years to losing 75lbs to become an Army Ranger, to gaining 50lbs after his injuries, to losing it again and keeping it off. He knows what it takes to make big transformations in one’s life.

HEATHER

COACH

Has over 15 years’ experience instructing both spin and group exercise classes! Heather coaches spin and versaclimb, as well as several core centered classes, here at Altus. She is a lover of high intensity interval training and is passionate about helping clients discover their own love of spin and versaclimb. She focuses on making her classes dynamic and fun, while also helping her clients practice proper mechanics to ensure they increase their work capacity and endurance.

CHERI

COACH

Cheri loves coaching high intensity training, and proper mechanics and technique. She believes in the importance of guiding members to understand their own strengths and weaknesses to increase their work capacity and ability. Cheri believes training can make people feel great after the fact, but the key to great training is to inspire, and throw a bit of fun, in the moment.

JESS

COACH

Coach Eddy has been active in fitness for over thirty years and has trained for various competitions ranging from CrossFit, to powerlifting, to Olympic weightlifting. Having grown up “unathletic”, he experienced first-hand the life-changing benefits of adopting a healthy diet and exercise. It is from this perspective that he shares his enthusiasm and knowledge with others.

Eddy earned degrees in engineering and business and has worked in technology, consulting, and management. He understands first-hand the challenges of maintaining a healthy diet and exercise while working in a traditional career, often with long hours and travel. Eddy is passionate about helping everyday people put into practice a healthy lifestyle balanced with career and other pursuits.

Outside of strength and conditioning, Eddy is a student of Latin dance and enjoys training and performing with other dancers in Pittsburgh.

BRANDI

COACH

Becoming a coach was Brandi’s second career choice. After 15 years of Architecture & Graphic Design she transitioned away to pursue her passion, an active coaching career. The best part of this pivot was becoming a more present mom, wife and learning how to be the best version of herself.

Brandi is a high energy coach who is going to hand you the heavier weight when she sees you putting in the work…OR reign you in when quality form is lacking to prevent injuries.

Her passions are female health, functional weight training and primal movements. When not at the gym, Brandi’s hobbies include listening to podcasts & books (sometimes she’s lucky enough to relax and actually read a book), kayaking & swimming for fun, campfires with her family, and being a small town competitive Crossfit athlete.

PETE

Director

Director Pete earned his B.S. in Exercise Science from the University of Pittsburgh in 2019 and then worked as an intern with Pitt’s football team. He has has an athletic background in ice hockey, gymnastics and track and field, Pete also has pursued bodybuilding and powerlifting recreationally.
For the last 7 years, Coach Pete has trained athletes of all ages and abilities from 7 years old to 70 years young and everything in between. He started as a coach at Altus, worked as a head coach at D1 Training and more recently as a manager at LA Fitness.
Pete is very happy to be returning full-time with Altus as the Director. He is driven by performance-based training, wanting to help every individual perform to their fullest potential whether they are someone new to exercise and training, an athlete pursuing a college scholarship, or with adults who want to set the example for their families that a healthy life is the best life.

AARON

COACH

Aaron has worked in the fitness industry as a performance coach, personal trainer and group exercise instructor since 2018. He holds two degrees from the University of Pittsburgh, a Master’s degree in Health & Physical Activity Programming & Promotion (2020) and a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science (2019). As a lifetime exerciser, Aaron is passionate about helping people improve their quality of life through physical activity. He believes that finding balance in all aspects of our day to day activities leads to living a productive life. In his free time, Aaron likes to exercise, listen and play music, and play recreational sports.
